Building Your Following and Increasing Sales

Going to the grocery store over the past several weeks can become quite depressing.  Many people are afraid to look you in the eye as if the season virus could be passed from one healthy person to another just by sight.  With people being afraid of talking to one another, I have come to the conclusion that there are some who think the virus is the first virus known to mankind with the ability to transfer based on soundwaves.

As ridiculous as this sounds, the overhyped season virus has had so much misinformation shared by our politicians at the National, State and Local levels which they continue to regurgitate based on the over sensationalized stories the news media has fed them.  Naïve citizens have been scared into submission quickly giving up their rights to provide a living to feed their children sharing false narratives to their friends and family through social media.

It is apparent that the majority of us will form our opinions based on social media.  Businesses will have to quickly adapt to a vigilant digital media strategy that is built to reach an audience that is glued to watching 15 second videos and is highly impressed by a pithy meme.  Our attention spans are short, and the point of the message needs to be made within seconds.

When it comes to an online digital strategy, businesses must make sure their message is concise and supportive of their narrative.  If a business provides a great product or service, there should be several pieces to their online digital media strategy that supports these claims:

·         Blogs- These are written pieces that have the ability to educate the consumer with facts and supporting documents.  Great stories on how the product or service is being used can validate these assertions.  It is also important to insert current events into these blogs.  Letting the public know that you know what is going on in the world is important.

·         Reviews- Many companies talk about getting a “lot of stars”, but reviews are so much more than that.  The goal is to have customers mention the product/service, why they visited your business and who specifically helped them.  Have you ever notices negative reviews state all of these things, but positive reviews might be a one word or one sentence on why they are happy?  Businesses should make it available and easy for their happy customers to be able to share their complete experience with the world on multiple platforms.  Video Testimonies should also be part of every businesses digital media strategy.  If we can see a customer truly happy, then it is more believable.  If you are a business that still pays for “Fake Reviews” customers can see through this.  Number one, those reviews are not being looked at by the average customer and number two, if you are spending that much time on “Fake Reviews” your business will never achieve maximum profitability.

·         Daily Post- There must be a method behind your post.  Are the post engaging to customers?  Do they create an emotion that can create a call to action?  If you are paying a company to put the same post on your sites as every other one of their clients sites than you are not understanding how daily post work.  In addition, you should be putting daily post on all of your social media sites to make sure you are optimizing the opportunity to reach additional customers.

·         Video Messaging- There is nothing better than a candid video that talks about your business or the service you provide.  The most searched videos are “How to Videos”.  Everyone utilizes the internet to find information.  If you want people to search your business, you better have the information they are looking for.

Automated Follow Up- Customer Retention is easier than finding new customers.  Your digital strategy should have a consistent approach to letting the customer know you care.  This should also be in a digital format to allow your customer to easily share the information with all of their friends and family.

How COVID-19 is Affecting Purchasing Habits

Stating that we are facing unprecedented situations feels like an increasing understatement.  The global pandemic surrounding COVID-19 will likely be the defining event of this decade, perhaps beyond.  The implications are being felt throughout business and personal lives, and will not be going away anytime soon.

As people come to terms with the realities of our interconnected world and uncertainties of a rapidly altering situation we have seen huge overnight changes to shopping behavior.  From bulk-buying to online purchases, people are changing how they buy, when, and why.

Different generations are responding differently to the pandemic, however Gen Z & Millenials are particularly altering purchasing behavior.  According to one survey of consumers, the younger generations are found to be changing their shopping behavior much more dramatically than other generations by cutting back on non-essential purchases, stocking up on supplies, and spending less on 'experiences'.

As people are embracing social distancing guidelines, this impacts the amount of foot-traffic brick-and-mortar stores can expect even as they are permitted to reopen their doors.  While this turn is unfortunate, there are avenues for local businesses to recoup their losses from a decline in physical shoppers.  A survey by Engine states that people are spending an average of 10-30% more time online shopping.  In the coming weeks and months there will be a large portion of potential shoppers that continue to limit their time spent visiting stores, and increasingly turn to online retail for a variety of goods.  Take advantage of a growing online customer base by ensuring your store is set-up to succeed in an e-commerce world.

Your customers are adapting to strange times and their behavior is constantly changing, and business owners are facing much of the same uncertainty.  However, DeliveryMaxx is here to help.  If you are needing to transition to an online store for the first time you do not have to rely on overpriced site builders.  Our patent-pending program and team of experts cares about what makes your business unique and are able to completely customize a program to suit your individual needs.  Whether you need an online store created, a customer retention program, or just want to be more active on social media, we are here to help.  Call 888.936.6299 for a free consultation today.

E-Commerce is the best Revenge for Small Businesses

As the tides of public opinion of the severity of the Coronavirus are quickly shifting as politicians, some in the mainstream media and the average American; the carnage of 33.5 million lost jobs are part of the aftermath that has been left behind.  According to a recent FORTUNE article, the Real unemployment rate has soared past 24.9% which is just shy of the highest level of unemployment during The Great Depression of 1929 which was 25.6%.  When you add the new unemployment figures with the 7.1 already unemployed Americans, the real unemployment rate is more than 40 million.

Headlines will soon shift to companies like J.Crew, Niemen Marcus, Kroger, Pier 1 imports, CMX Cinemas, Gold’s Gym, Krystal, Lucky’s Market and others will either file for bankruptcy or restructure.  They may not shut their doors forever, but vendors, creditors and employees will become the latest victims in the overhyped COVID-19 scare of 2020.

The list of these big businesses will be sure to grow and employees and small businesses that depend on these companies will be the ones left to suffer.  In addition, Bloomberg is predicting that 52% of U.S. Small Businesses will fail even as states are starting to partially open up.

We can’t blame the media because any sane person should know the media sensationalizes stories to increase revenue from advertisement.  We really can’t blame politicians because their job security comes from having 1 more vote than the 50% who actually vote.  The lack of leadership has been on display from our Federal Government and State Government, but the worst has been the local County Judges and Mayors who showed their total lack of understanding and laziness to actually lead.  They quickly took to whatever camera was pointing their direction and spewed off misinformation disguised as facts and imprisoned small businesses leaving them to die.  However, the real people to blame are those who look back at us in our mirrors.  We failed to use logic and reason.  We failed to question why it wasn’t likely to get the virus by going to Walmart to fight over toilet paper.  We failed to question people like Chris Cuomo, CNN reporter and brother of flamboyant New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who told the world he was stricken with the seasonal virus and how bad it was.  However, the same week he was supposed to be in quarantine, he was out with family and friends at a dinner party.  We accepted shutting down and ruining the 2020 seniors from finishing high school and college, but allowed Costco, Home Depot, Government Offices, News Media, McDonalds and others to operate fully unscathed.  We made the decision to accept Churches being shut down, but a gathering of news reporters listening to the lies our government officials was just fine.  The worst person in this whole debacle was the average American who took to Facebook and say how bad the virus is, but let their kids hang around others showing a complete hypocrisy while they promoted fear among their friends.

The battle has been deadly, but it isn’t over.  Politicians will ramp up their game plan to pin the blame on the other party.  Citizens will attack each other trying to save their original position of their beliefs.  The American Citizen has already shown those in power how willing they are to give up their rights that our Founding Fathers and American Veterans have fought so hard to preserve.  Yes, we are in the midst of war without a bullet being fired…yet.  This war isn’t against China or Iran (although stay tuned), but it is within each and every one of us.  Our enemy is within because we allowed this to happen.  We chose emotion over logic.

Those who are in business have a choice.  We can give up, which in many cases who can blame you.  It’s another uphill battle you will have to climb.  Or we can adapt and try to overcome another adversity that has been thrown in our face.

Every business will need to immediately look to how they can continue to bring in revenue.  They must have a digital strategy that includes E-Commerce solutions:

·         Website. Your website is the one area that you have the most control.  You can share your message and tell your story.  You can also sell your products and services online.  Your website should be simple to navigate, but also allow your potential customers to purchase your goods.

·         Digital Media Strategy.  You must attract potential customers and retain your current customers.  It will be important to utilize social media sites to gain additional viewers and give them reasons to visit your website.  Your digital marketing should not be just posting a funny meme to Facebook or Twitter.  It must be well thought out and strategic to growing your market share.

·         E-Commerce. You will need to implement a way for customers to purchase your goods and services.  The entities that need this the most are the ones who never thought they needed to promote their services on the internet.  We are in the midst of a New Normal.

·         Adapt.  The economic landscape has done a shift more than the San Andreas Fault.  It would be great to have all the answers, but a digital strategy is probably not your expertise.  Finding a company that understands logic, reasoning and knows how to help you navigate through these unchartered times is vital to helping your business survive, rebuild and thrive in the future.

DeliveryMaxx has been the leader in this arena over the last decade and continues to help businesses in all sectors reach their potential customers through the most innovative digital strategy utilizing common sense and today’s technology.  Our clients experience positive Online Reputation, stronger SEO, concise content management, increase in social media engagement and advertisement and higher customer retention.  We are able to customize and create a strategy for any entity that is trying to gain more exposure on the web.  With clients in multiple industries and across the country such as Automotive Dealerships, Real-Estate Brokers & Agents, Churches, Service Industry, Sports Teams, Non-Profit Organizations and more; we utilize our Patent-Pending Program to develop a digital strategy that will meet the needs of sales, service and messaging to the masses.

A Story of Sacrifice by Small Businesses

Owning your own business is much like being the umpire calling balls and strikes while you are also on the mound pitching.  Those of you that own a business know this is not the case.  As a matter of fact, owning your own business is actually like playing every position on the field, but instead of 3 umpires managing the game, you have an umpire for each person on the field who is demanding perfection from you while thee stadium is packed of potential clients while your competition is hidden within.

Sure, it’s exciting when you achieve success.  We all love the stories about the business idea that turned into a household name.  The facts are that 20% of small businesses fail in their first year, 30% of small business fail in their second year, and 50% of small businesses fail after five years in business.  Finally, 70% of small business owners fail in their 10th year in business.  However, many people are quick to look at the mega billionaires like Mark Cuban, the Jeff Bezos and the late Sam Walton with disdain we often forget the sacrifices they made before their success.  We fail to understand that owning a small business demands sacrificing.

Today, small businesses have the same struggles as they always have had.  They are faced with taking risk just to make payroll.  They have to decide what to invest to keep their business growing or even in severe cases, operational.  They are tasked with writing off owed revenue at times or foregoing their own salaries to have the ability to pay an employee.  In most cases, the first 10 years is not glamorous at all.  As the owner of DeliveryMaxx, I can remember a time that my son brought home a baseball teammate of his to watch the World Series at our house.  I was sitting at the dining room table working on a project, and he asked me what channel the game was on.  He couldn’t find it.  With embarrassment, I told him I had to cut off cable to save money.  Being wise beyond his years, he didn’t miss a beat and told his friend they would have to listen to the game on the radio instead.

Recently, the government passed a 2.2 Trillion Dollar Stimulus package that was touted at helping small businesses make payroll.  Over 1.8 Trillion Dollars was used on anything but helping small businesses.  Most of the money went to the public arts, congress, displaced refuges, colleges with billion dollar endowments and other entities chosen by our elected officials.  The 389 Billion that was left over was quickly swallowed up by big businesses and those with personal relationships with their banks.  Mega banks like Wells Fargo, Chase and others squeezed out the small businesses making them fend for themselves during this overhyped media driven politically backed scare of a seasonal virus.

Shelly Luther, Owner of Salon A La Mode & James Schaefer, Founder of DeliveryMaxx
spend some time speaking at an Open Texas Rally in Frisco, Texas.
Shelley Luther, owner of Salon A La Mode defied unconstitutional orders by local County Judge Clay Jenkins who is using his position of power to eye a run for Governor and opened up her salon even though the order said she was not allowed.  She stated that it didn’t make sense that the dog groomer next to her was allowed to work while she had to keep her doors closed despite still having to pay rent for her building.  She was one of the many businesses like DeliveryMaxx that had not received the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) for 6 weeks and her hair stylist as well as herself still had mounting bills to pay just to put food on their table for their kids.

As many State and Federal Prisons are releasing criminals like rapist, politicians like Harris County Sherriff Lina Hidalgo are wanting to throw business owners in Jail.  Dallas County Judge Eric Moye ruled against Shelley Luther for both criminal and civil contempt.  The same judge who is known for pulling a gun on a women while driving on the Dallas Tollway, accused of physical assault in 2009 and accused of being biased and not being able to properly preside over a controversial lawsuit in 2018 took the opportunity to grandstand in front of the world telling the mother and small business owner she was being selfish in her decision to open her salon early so she could feed her children.  Moye handed down a $7,000 fine and 7 days in jail.  He baited her with release if she would publicly tell everyone she is wrong to defy the unlawful orders and she answered him with, “I have to disagree with you, sir, when you say that I am selfish because feeding my kids is not selfish. I have hair stylists that are going hungry because they'd rather feed their kids. So sir, if you think the law is more important than kids being fed, then please go ahead with your decision. But I'm not going to shut the salon (down).”

Shelley Luther and millions of other small businesses provide income for over 60% of the United States Labor Force.  Over the last month, the unemployment rate is nearing 23% which is just below the 24.9% unemployment rate of 24.9% during The Great Depression which brought us higher crime rate, mass migrations, increased suicide rates, malnutrition, alcoholism and drug abuse, marital dissolution, child abuse and put higher education out of reach for most Americans.

The small business has been asked to pay the ultimate sacrifice over the last 7 weeks.  In addition to having to battle against a recession every decade; they are now faced with the likelihood of keeping their business open fighting The 2nd Great Depression.  It will be imperative for them to adapt and embrace technology as the government has scared people into not even wanting to look at another person in the eyes.  Therefore, business owners will need to make sure their business is able to reach, communicate and provide goods and services using today’s technology.  This includes marketing, advertising, e-commerce and informing your customers and potential customers in the digital arena.  Using technology will allow leaders to build a strong following.

Digital Advertising is less expensive than traditional advertisement, but it has to be done right.  Every site has to be optimized and a complete understanding of each platform’s audience must be known.  There has to be a balance of daily post with branding and testimonies from clients.  There also has to be informational blogs and educational videos that show you are an expert in your field.  DeliveryMaxx makes this happen on a consistent basis meeting all of your needs in the digital world giving you a stronger reach on the internet allowing you to focus on what you do the best.
