Your Business should be Free to Open Now


When government decided to classify businesses into essential and non-essential; they overstepped their power given to them by the people.  Remember, this was originally done with the reasoning of flattening the curve and relieving our medical teams from being overwhelmed by the millions of cases they said would storm the doors of our hospitals.  This did not and is not happening today.

Now the narrative continues to change on a daily basis and is perpetuated by fear.  Your business is essential!  Hairstylist are just as important as dog groomers.  The “hole in the wall” Mexican Restaurant is equally as valuable as McDonalds.  The Outdoor Nursery is as significant as Walmart or Home Depot. Our clothing and shoe stores are imperative much like roofers.  Churches and religious institutions are just as vital as our government offices and liquor stores (and right now I would argue they are more important.)

Even though there is a different argument every day as to why we should not completely open up the economy, the one pushback that cannot be disputed is that if the virus is as bad as CDC, WHO, Government Officials and certain members of the Medical Community are saying; then why did we leave open those businesses that serve 1000’s of customers a day and shut down businesses that might only serve 1000 customers in a month?  In addition, we are releasing rapist from prison, but incarcerating parents playing with their kids and businesses trying to safely open up to put food on their table.

Those businesses that have been devastated by shutting down the economy and 30.3 million who are now unemployed have NEVER said their lives mattered more than those who MIGHT be infected with the SEASONAL VIRUS.  They said, entering The Second Great Depression will kill people too.  However, those who continue to sensationalize the COVID-19 death totals are not sharing the same information about those who are going to be negatively affected by not being able to provide for their families.  And yes… people will DIE because of this.  Of course those same people don’t talk about the deaths from abortion, automotive accidents, flu, cancer and other causes of death that have a much higher mortality rate.  Those in business have always said, “If you think you might get sick from this virus or even die; stay home and protect yourself.”  This makes a lot of sense because if you quarantine yourself from everyone, you will not have the exposure to the virus…only those who go out would have this exposure and you have the power NOT to visit them.  We would not have had to pass a 2.2 Pork Filled Stimulus package where 1.8 Trillion went to everything but the small businesses that were financially effected by this seasonal virus.

Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.  We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream.  It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

Over the last month the entire world has heard mixed messages about how deadly the Coronavirus is.  The over inflated hype started with the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers of Disease Control (CDC), our elected officials at the National, State and Local Level and mainstream media all following a simple graph made by Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson stating that 2.2 million people would die in the United States by April 15th.  We were told to “shelter in place” for two weeks so we could ease the burdens on our health care systems.  While people were hiding in their homes from an almost certain world apocalypse, the media reported that New York had dead bodies stacked in the hallways and refrigerators ready to be taken to mass graves.  Many County Judges jumped at the chance to make their name known by repeating the over exaggerated lies to continue to scare their constituents into staying home to “flatten the curve.”  Our government officials have divided Americans into multiple camps causing chaos and dissention among each other.

Early on there were those who looked at the numbers only to be ridiculed by the Elite who would invoked science.  They questioned the numbers and compared it with the 2017-2018 flu which showed no mercy to children.  Without hesitation doctors said that this virus is so much more deadly than anything we have experienced in the past.  However, those doctors that invoked science originally are now disputing science when it does not fit their original narrative.  For example, WHO came out and said Face Mask will not help you.  Now, Face Mask are being mandated across the country just to shop.  Science was used to shut the doors of small businesses that might serve as little as 1000 customers a month, but companies like Walmart, Costco, Home Depot, McDonalds who serve 1000 customers a day were allowed to stay open.  Treatment and spread of the virus has been disputed by the medical experts.  Local medical professionals have taken it upon themselves to get on their personal social media accounts exclaiming how serious this virus is only to have their kids do the exact opposite and fish, play sports or hangout with their friends.  Our medical community is dividing Americans giving information which contradicts the results of the mortality rates thus causing chaos and dissention among each other.

Now we have censoring taking place.  Anyone who is expressing alternative viewpoints from the mainstream narrative is being silenced.  Recently, a video of two California doctors using science to show how herd immunity will actually help the United States control the virus at a manageable rate.  Not only have they treated COVID-19 patients, they also utilized science and statistics to share their findings.  YouTube removed the viral video because it did not fall in line with what the CDC’s current narrative is.  Censoring alternative viewpoints is only causing chaos and dissention among each other.

6.       Automated Follow-Up. 8.       Ability to Adapt. If someone asked me 6 months ago if I expected our country to be turned upside down like it is today, I would have brushed them off.  We have always heard about flying cars and telecommuting, but really thought that these futuristic concepts would enter our world when we are gone.  Whether you are looking at clothing, dining establishments, traveling or delivering goods and services to consumers; there will be a New Normal.  If you do not adjust when creating business plans your business will become archaic and lose market share.  Research and follow the mindset of your consumer.  Look into Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology or companies that can provide automated “no touch” programs.  You might not like it, but it is coming!

9.       Network and Collaborate.  Now more than ever it is important to talk with others.  As business owners, we have an opportunity to pave the way for future generations.  Join a networking group.  It’s easy to set one up.  Talk to a few clients and schedule a Zoom or GoTo meeting once a month.  Discuss issues that are affecting your business and listen to their concerns as well.  See if you can help each other.  Do this out of kindness.  The more people you help, the more people will want to help you.

1.   Be Understanding but Demand Better.  The politicians don’t have all of the answers.  Their job security is based on one more vote than 50% of the votes cast to remain in office.  The media will not always provide the best answers.  Their job security is based on a great story that will create more views, so they can sell more advertisement. The Medical Community is not always right.  Theories and the interpretation of science always changes.  As technology becomes more advance answers will change.  Remember, George Washington died because his doctor used a leach to suck out poison from his body.  He actually bled to death after being sick.  Science will change.  Realize that there are people who are afraid to leave their house by what they have heard.  They may have a loved one who they think might die if they are around anyone who might be sick.  Nobody wants to have a loved one taken away from them.  Now, just because you are understanding does not mean you have to agree.  Demand the best from others and yourself.

1.   Be Transparent.  Telling the public what you think is not bad.  Let them know where you stand and why you feel that way.  If you are provided with valid points, listen and change your message accordingly, but let the public know why.  Let your employees know what is going on.  Americans love success stories and they want you to succeed.  By being honest with them, they will identify with you and be more likely to become a customer for life.

Don’t Let Fear Control Your Business


More and more states are starting to allow businesses to open their doors with heavy restrictions and limitations.  We will explore how businesses can utilize these limited freedoms to survive, but before we give helpful tips we should point out that the initial projections were wrong.  In many cases, the government and mainstream media has lied and this misinformation has caused fear among us.  For example, in Texas, there have been 672 deaths attributed to the Coronavirus which is much lower than the 11,917 deaths recorded during the 2017-2018 influenza season.  Economist are now saying that the current unemployment rate is second only to that of the Great Depression of 1929 and without completely opening up our economy we will surpass those numbers entering us into The 2nd Great Depression.  The cure cannot be worse than the disease.

Every decision throughout history that has been driven by fear is wrong.  A few examples that come to mind are:

Segregation Now, Segregation Tomorrow, Segregation Forever.  Alabama Governor George C. Wallace, in 1963 during his inaugural address is remembered as one of the most vehement rallying cries against racial equality in American history.  This was a time in America that our government said it was acceptable for those of color to sit in the back of the bus, use separate restroom facilities, and have less access to public schools and businesses all because of fear.  How would integrating people of color into white America negatively affect our culture?

Japanese Internment Camps. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor during World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry where 62% of them were United States citizens into concentration camps.  Around 80,000 people of Japanese ancestry were second and third generation United States Citizens.

The Great Purge.  From 1936 to 1938, Joseph Stalin and other government officials created a campaign, much like the Nazi Party in Germany, of political repression in the Soviet Union.  It involved a large scale repression of wealthy peasants, genocidal acts against ethnic minorities, a purge of the Communist Party and government officials, and the Red Army leadership, widespread police surveillance, suspicion of saboteurs, counter-revolutionaries, imprisonment, and arbitrary executions.  The total number of deaths due to Stalinist repression was well over 1 million citizens.

Cuba Punishes their New Entrepreneurial Class.  Cuban ruler Raúl Castro, breaking his own promise to move ahead with economic reforms “without haste but without pause,” has stopped issuing government licenses for some of the more lucrative private businesses on the island such as private restaurants and B&Bs. Other frozen occupations include services for home repairs and electronic equipment, developers of applications for cell phones and web pages, music teachers, education tutors and even blacksmiths.  The Cuban government does not want a truly successful entrepreneurial class operating on the island based on fear according to experts.

US Department of the Treasury Poisoned Alcohol.  The 18th Amendment, which took effect in January 1920, banned the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcohol — but not consumption. Despite the government's efforts, alcoholism actually skyrocketed during the era.  By mid-1927, the US government added much deadlier chemicals — kerosene, chloroform, and acetone among those most well-known — which made alcohol more difficult to render consumable again. Adding 10% more methyl alcohol caused the worst effects.  Despite New York City’s chief medical examiner, Charles Norris trying to publicize the dangers, in 1926 the poisonous alcohol killed 400 in the city and the following year another 700 died.

Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male.  The US Public Health Service lied about treating black men with syphilis for more than 40 years.  In 1932, the Public Health Service collaborated with the Tuskegee Institute to record the history of syphilis in the black male community, hoping to justify a treatment program.  The study initially included 600 black men where 399 had the disease and 201 did not.  The men were told they would receive treatment, however, the researchers never provided adequate treatment for the disease.  Even when penicillin became the preferred and available treatment for syphilis, researchers kept their subjects in the dark.  After public outrage in 1972, a government advisory panel deemed the study “ethically irresponsible”.  Only took 40 years!

Polio Vaccine Contaminated with Cancer Causing Virus.  More than 100 million Americans received a polio vaccine contaminated with a potentially cancer-causing virus from 1954 to 1961 according to the American Journal of Cancer.  Jonas Salk, creator of the inactivated-polio vaccine, used cells from rhesus monkeys infected with SV40, according to president of the National Vaccine Information Center Barbara Fisher, who testified before the Subcommittee on Human Rights and Wellness in the US House of Representatives on this matter in 2003, after researching the situation for 10 years.

Operation Northwoods.  In 1962, President John F. Kennedy and his Joint Chiefs of Staff approved Operation Northwoods, a covert plan to create support for a war in Cuba that would oust communist leader Fidel Castro.  Declassified government documents show considerations included: host funerals for "mock-victims," "start rumors (many)," and "blow up a U.S. ship in Guantanamo Bay and blame Cuba." They even suggested somehow pinning John Glenn's potential death, should his rocket explode, on communists in Cuba.

As the media and our politicians continue to make decisions based on fear or the unknown, American citizens are left to recover from the damage.  Originally, the politicians, mainstream media and medical community warned America that 2.2 million people would die by the middle of April using Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson’s graph based on 100% of the population getting the virus.  The CDC is recommending medical examiners to mark any deaths of individuals suspected of having symptoms that could be related to COVID-19 as Coronavirus Cases which is only adding onto the fear.  Thomas Jefferson once said, “When people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”

How to Score when the Goalposts Continue to Change

Cincinnati Bengals fans are probably the happiest in the country right now with the first-round pick and LSU Tigers star Joe Burrow set to take snaps if and when the NFL season starts up in a few months.  Being a Dallas Cowboy fan myself, I am happy that Dak Prescott will have another weapon to throw to with CeeDee Lamb falling down to number 17 on the draft board. This is certainly a lot more fun to talk about and even debate than the ongoing arguments of how bad the coronavirus really is and when can we open up the economy to avoid The 2nd Great Depression.  It seems like nobody really wants to lead because elections are coming up and many politicians major source of income is on the backs of the American Tax Payer.  Of course it doesn’t help when the media sensationalizes every death that happens and the CDC is attributing thousands of death to those who might have a symptom that is related to the seasonal virus even though the medical examiner has not confirmed the actual cause of death was caused by COVID-19.  Paying hospitals $12,000 to $40,000 per Coronavirus case answers many skeptics’ questions as to why the politicians, media and many in the medical community want a high number of cases.

With any game that is played, you must know the rules first.  This will allow you to have a strategy and plan accordingly, so you can lead your team to victory.  The first thing that you should know are the facts or landscape of where you are playing, so you can interpret the rules.  This is a Presidential Election Year, the United States was winning the trade war with China and many Democrats and Republicans had grown tired of our President not adhering to the norms of past politicians.

As of Friday, April 24, 2020; the United States has 50,954 total deaths with 26,711 coming from New York and New Jersey. (Yes that includes the 4,000 deaths attributed to victims that were assumed to have the virus but never confirmed.)  Thankfully, this is much less than the 2.2 million deaths that Epidemiologist, Neil Ferguson originally projected and our politicians and media all used to scare Americans into giving up their rights and hide in their homes. (Sort of.  They also allowed businesses like Walmart, Home Depot, Braum’s and other Big Boxes to stay open catering to thousands of people at a time while they demanded small businesses that would be happy to have 1000 customers in a month to shutdown.)

The 2nd Great Depression will cause many more deaths, but that is another game the politicians will get to play at the expense of the people.

We were told to hunker in place for 2-4 weeks because our hospital capacity could not withstand the wave of people. We were told the beds, ventilators and other equipment would get overwhelmed. Graphs with a bell curve were used to show patients vs. hospital capacity to get us on board. We got on board and we did that. We followed the plan.

We sold out our economy and sent our friends and neighbors into financial ruin (or at least complete government dependency) to buy us the time. Our kids missed out on once in a lifetime memory making events such as graduations, proms and sports. Those kids gave those things up for us. Let that never ever be taken lightly. We shut down our churches. We cooperated with the plan. The plan was to prepare our medical system for the wave. That was the plan and we adhered to that plan.
Now, it appears the new goal is to hunker in place until the virus is gone. Yes, they are moving the goalposts on us. The original plan was to hunker in place to gain time to arrange for the curve of patients to hospital bed capacity. The new goalpost is to hunker for more time.

Is it to hunker down until the virus is gone?  Hunkering in place until its gone presents a couple things that we have to put into consideration. 1) Everyone has to get COVID-19 but it will be slowly, so hold on until that is completed or 2) We come up with a vaccine that everyone in the world MUST take.  Both of these scenarios mean a VERY long time in hunker down mode. Of course no one wants to do the math on the loss of life that comes along with staying in the hunker down mode. Even if someone does that math, our media will not show it, and of course the hired jesters of the world (Jimmie Kimmel, Steve Colbert, Jimmie Fallen....) will mock and discredit the information.

As a small business owner, you must rely on tools and networking to survive in this climate, much like football teams that play Green Bay Packers in December!  Make no mistake, the government and mainstream media is not going to worry about you, so you will have to build up your brand and create a loyal customer following.  It will be important for you to stay consistent and vigilant during these tough times.  A couple of things you can do that will help you weather the storm as the local Mayors and County Judges continue to move the goalpost: Networking, Helping Others, Stay Transparent and Show Empathy for Others.  By doing this you will build a strong team willing to play hard on both sides of the ball.  DeliveryMaxx still believes that providing a strong moral compass will be advantageous to you in the future.

Brace Yourself for a Bumpy Ride


Whether you think the virus was overhyped or it was the most dangerous disease since Ebola a couple of years ago, we are all in for a bumpy ride.  Not only will businesses have to adapt to the climate we are in, but so will many consumers.  DeliveryMaxx is here to help businesses overcome the obstacles they will face while navigating the new playing field that seems to be changing daily.
In the beginning there were two schools of thought.  The first group were those who believed walking outside would lead to certain death of your loved ones and thus they embraced a two week or even two month inconvenience of shutting down all businesses.  Of course that didn’t mean essential businesses like Walmart, Costco, McDonalds, Braum’s, liquor stores, government offices and other “essential businesses”.  As long as we saved one life the cost of a few dollars in somebody’s pocket was a price they were willing to take.  Many of the people who were in favor for a little break in the hustle and bustle of life were those who worked in the medical fields, education and had jobs that continued to pay their salaries.

However, the second group of dissenters questioned the politicians and media and the numbers they continued to shove down the throats of America.  They tried to point out the graph that Epidemiologist, Neil Ferguson came up with showing that 2.2 million Americans would die by April 15th was based on 100% of the population getting the seasonal virus.  They tried to point out that if people were put under house arrest that businesses would fail.  They tried to show that millions of businesses and jobs would be lost if we didn’t balance out the hypocrisy.   These people were labeled as insensitive and greedy.  They were identified as people who would rather see their grandparent die rather than lose a dollar.

A Pork Filled 2.2 Trillion Dollar Stimulus Package was passed and the 389 Billion Dollars allocated to small businesses was swallowed up by big businesses and friends of the big banks.  The other 1.8 trillion dollars went to groups that continue to line the pockets of our politicians.

So what are the facts today?  As of April 23, 2020 the United States has a mortality rate of 47,684 people.  The majority of the deaths were those who were elderly or had underlying health conditions and a few outlier cases that have been sensationalized by the mainstream media.  This still represents .0001445 of the population.  These numbers include the nearly 4,000 deaths that New York suspected that someone might have had COVID-19 and added the numbers to the death total.  Also reported is that the United States has had only 849,094 cases although California LA County probably had an additional 442,000 cases that nobody accounted for because they had no or very mild symptoms.  Thus, the virus is real.  The virus is contagious.  The virus has an even lower death rate than what the government was telling us.  Here is a number you might want to see.  Out of all of the deaths this year, the Coronavirus represents less than .0026 percent of deaths.  As a matter of fact, today the United States has already had 63,600 deaths before noon.

According to an article published by Fortune today, the real unemployment rate has soared past 20% with the United States increasing the job casualties to 26.5 million as another 4.4 million Americans filed unemployment claims by the end of April 18th.  That is the 5th consecutive month over 3 million jobs being lost according to the U.S. Department of Labor.  Add the new members of the unemployment with the 7.1 million who were unemployed prior to March 13th and the total of real unemployment is 33 million or a rate of 20.6% which is the highest level since 1934 when America was coming out of The Great Depression.  As a reminder, at 25% unemployment, we will be in entering into The 2nd Great Depression.  The first one brought us the following: homelessness, increased crime rate both violent and non-violent, child abuse, marital dissolutions, alcohol and drug addiction, inability to pursue a higher education and death.  The death was associated with suicides, mental health, violent crimes and a lower ability to maintain health.  Instead of those who are elderly and have underlying health conditions, everyone will be effected by The 2nd Great Depression.

How to tie your Shoe when the shoelace is Broke


If you were a kid growing up in a middleclass or below middle class family you probably have a smile on your face right now after reading the title of this blog.  You can remember the sneakers you once had that were perfectly fine, but as you were lacing them up just before school while rushing quickly to catch the bus before it pulled around the corner, the lace broke.  (Those of you that had the Velcro laces were the envy of all of us because you didn’t have this issue.)  Since your parents bought your shoes a size or two big for growing room, you had to have the laces tied tight so you would not lose the shoe as you ran to where you needed to go.

For most of us, this was our first experience of adversity.  We would have to take the lace completely out of the shoe.  We would have to even the lace up and thread it through each of the eyelets (which is the hole that is meant for threading a cord of a lace) without the aglet/ aiglet (which is a small sheath made of plastic).  Sometimes we would try to wrap duct tape to make this process easier and other times we would just lick the end of the lace to create a point for easier navigation.  A non-scientific study says that many business owners were groomed for success because of this adversity.

Fast-forward to 2020.  Through no fault of many small businesses, they are faced with closing their doors forever.  Because of the lack of leadership at the government level providing misinformation through daily news conferences, mainstream media creating fear by sensationalizing outlying stories that are not the norm and big banks squeezing out the true small businesses by taking care of their larger clients; the small business is left to do everything they can to keep their business alive.

Although the goal post continue to change as quickly as the calculations of the future mortality rate of the Coronavirus, the government restrictions will one day be lifted.  Small businesses will have to make sure they continue to adapt to the change of rules and society’s new norms.  It will be difficult and many businesses will not be able to survive, but those that do will look a lot different than they did as little as four months ago.  Those of you who used shoe polish to whiten up your old shoes will know exactly what I mean by this!  (Just make sure you clean the mud off and don’t try to take a shortcut by polishing over the mud.)

·         Show Empathy.  Many people believe everything they have heard on TV.  They are scared of the unknown and instantly feel this virus will kill everyone.  Obviously, this isn’t true, but don’t blame them for being so naïve.  Realize that they really think one might die just by walking outside if that is all they have heard the past 3 to 4 months.  As frustrating as it might be, don’t yell at them because they will argue with emotions and not facts.  Screaming and yelling will not make them understand logic any better and only scare them more.  Understand that others might have something that you take for granted, but to them it is a necessity of life.
