Building Your Following and Increasing Sales

Going to the grocery store over the past several weeks can become quite depressing.  Many people are afraid to look you in the eye as if the season virus could be passed from one healthy person to another just by sight.  With people being afraid of talking to one another, I have come to the conclusion that there are some who think the virus is the first virus known to mankind with the ability to transfer based on soundwaves.

As ridiculous as this sounds, the overhyped season virus has had so much misinformation shared by our politicians at the National, State and Local levels which they continue to regurgitate based on the over sensationalized stories the news media has fed them.  Naïve citizens have been scared into submission quickly giving up their rights to provide a living to feed their children sharing false narratives to their friends and family through social media.

It is apparent that the majority of us will form our opinions based on social media.  Businesses will have to quickly adapt to a vigilant digital media strategy that is built to reach an audience that is glued to watching 15 second videos and is highly impressed by a pithy meme.  Our attention spans are short, and the point of the message needs to be made within seconds.

When it comes to an online digital strategy, businesses must make sure their message is concise and supportive of their narrative.  If a business provides a great product or service, there should be several pieces to their online digital media strategy that supports these claims:

·         Blogs- These are written pieces that have the ability to educate the consumer with facts and supporting documents.  Great stories on how the product or service is being used can validate these assertions.  It is also important to insert current events into these blogs.  Letting the public know that you know what is going on in the world is important.

·         Reviews- Many companies talk about getting a “lot of stars”, but reviews are so much more than that.  The goal is to have customers mention the product/service, why they visited your business and who specifically helped them.  Have you ever notices negative reviews state all of these things, but positive reviews might be a one word or one sentence on why they are happy?  Businesses should make it available and easy for their happy customers to be able to share their complete experience with the world on multiple platforms.  Video Testimonies should also be part of every businesses digital media strategy.  If we can see a customer truly happy, then it is more believable.  If you are a business that still pays for “Fake Reviews” customers can see through this.  Number one, those reviews are not being looked at by the average customer and number two, if you are spending that much time on “Fake Reviews” your business will never achieve maximum profitability.

·         Daily Post- There must be a method behind your post.  Are the post engaging to customers?  Do they create an emotion that can create a call to action?  If you are paying a company to put the same post on your sites as every other one of their clients sites than you are not understanding how daily post work.  In addition, you should be putting daily post on all of your social media sites to make sure you are optimizing the opportunity to reach additional customers.

·         Video Messaging- There is nothing better than a candid video that talks about your business or the service you provide.  The most searched videos are “How to Videos”.  Everyone utilizes the internet to find information.  If you want people to search your business, you better have the information they are looking for.

Automated Follow Up- Customer Retention is easier than finding new customers.  Your digital strategy should have a consistent approach to letting the customer know you care.  This should also be in a digital format to allow your customer to easily share the information with all of their friends and family.

Overcoming Chaotic Times with an Unstoppable Business Strategy

During the Battle of Bunker Hill, Revolutionary Major General Putnam issued a common command, “Do not fire till you see the whites of their eyes!”  As the advancing Redcoats who represented King George and his over taxation of our 13 Colonies found out that Americans would only take so much before they would revolt.  Despite losing this battle, the colonial forces inflicted significant casualties against the tyrants providing them with an important boost of confidence during the Siege of Boston ultimately paving the way for the United States as we have known it for the last 244 years.

Business owners are a lot like the Founding Fathers and our Revolutionary Soldiers who bravely fought for freedom.  The Founding Fathers built a frame of government for the new United States of America upon republican principles during the latter decades of the 18th century. The group came from a variety of social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds as well as occupations, some with no prior political experience.  They had a dream and despite being under funded, no major experience running a country, not compliant with mainstream ideals; they paved the way for the United States to become a World Super Power for over two centuries.

Business owners are in the same boat today.  They have taken risk often leveraging all of their savings to provide a product or service to customers.  Entrepreneurs provide jobs and allow others to make a living to provide for their family.  Small Business Owners provide the majority of jobs in America today.

Despite obstacles; they continue to fight the good fight and keep the economy going.  They endure Recessions every decade and overcame The Great Depression in 1929.  Because of government regulations over an overhyped seasonal virus, the United States is facing The 2nd Great Depression today.  However, Business Owners will find a way to survive, rebuild and thrive and hopefully the American citizens will rally around them.

Key points to assure your business the best opportunity to overcome obstacles that may prevent you from fulfilling your mission:

·         Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This is looking like it will be a new normal as we go into grocery stores and other places of business.  While some may think this is over reacting, many of your clients or consumers have been frightened by the information they have received.  Therefore, we suggest looking at companies like Apache Commodities and invest in making sure your place of business makes your employees and customers feel safe.
·         Daily Post. There must be a method behind your post.
·         Blogs. These are written pieces that have the ability to educate the consumer with facts and supporting documents.  Great stories on how the product or service is being used can validate these assertions.  It is also important to insert current events into these blogs.  Letting the public know that you know what is going on in the world is important.  Each blog should include backlinks, mentions and citations to your website and place of business.  They should be original.
·         Online Reviews. Many companies talk about getting a “lot of stars”, but reviews are so much more than that. Recently, Google and Yelp shutdown the ability for your customers to give reviews.  However, they have opened back up.  The most important thing for you to remember is this New Normal will be New to everyone.  Therefore it is inevitable that your company will have a period of adjustments.  It will be vital for you to respond to each of these reviews, both positive and negative.
·         Video Messaging.  There is nothing better than a candid video that talks about your business or the service you provide.  The most searched videos are “How to Videos”.  Everyone utilizes the internet to find information.  If you want people to search your business, you better have the information they are looking for.  These videos can also be archived on your website for future customers to see and hear what you have to say.  The best Online Review is a Video Testimony.  By doing this, your happy customer is validating what you are advertising.
·         Automated Follow-Up. Customer Retention is easier and less expensive than acquiring new customers.  Your digital strategy should have a consistent approach to letting the customer know you care.  This should also be in a digital format to allow your customer to easily share the information with all of their friends and family if they desire.  A follow-up video can be even stronger as the customer will see and feel your sincerity when viewed.
·         Website Optimization.  When it comes to E-commerce, businesses must understand their website is their digital Brick and Mortal Location.  Their contact information should be very easy to find as well as information on their products or services.  Their site must be optimized, but that means all of their social media sites should drive traffic back to their website.  A business website should also have information that shows why their customers should utilize their business with supporting information.  However, this supporting information should not make it where a customer would leave their site and go to a competitor’s site one button click away.  The New Normal will require businesses to be able to sell and provide their services digitally.  For companies like restaurants, they will need to utilize the website to find additional sources of revenue or streamline their services.  A strong website should not cost you Thousands of Dollars a month.
·         Ability to Adapt. If someone asked me 6 months ago if I expected our country to be turned upside down like it is today, I would have brushed them off.  We have always heard about flying cars and telecommuting, but really thought that these futuristic concepts would enter our world when we are gone.  Whether you are looking at clothing, dining establishments, traveling or delivering goods and services to consumers; there will be a New Normal.  If you do not adjust when creating business plans your business will become archaic and lose market share.  Research and follow the mindset of your consumer.  Look into Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology or companies that can provide automated “no touch” programs.  You might not like it, but it is coming!
·         Network and Collaborate.  Now more than ever it is important to talk with others.  As business owners, we have an opportunity to pave the way for future generations.  Join a networking group.  It’s easy to set one up.  Talk to a few clients and schedule a Zoom or GoTo meeting once a month.  Discuss issues that are affecting your business and listen to their concerns as well.  See if you can help each other.  Do this out of kindness.  The more people you help, the more people will want to help you.
·         Be Understanding but Demand Better.  The politicians don’t have all of the answers.  Their job security is based on one more vote than 50% of the votes cast to remain in office.  The media will not always provide the best answers.  Their job security is based on a great story that will create more views, so they can sell more advertisement. The Medical Community is not always right.  Theories and the interpretation of science always changes.  As technology becomes more advance answers will change.  Remember, George Washington died because his doctor used a leach to suck out poison from his body.  He actually bled to death after being sick.  Science will change.  Realize that there are people who are afraid to leave their house by what they have heard.  They may have a loved one who they think might die if they are around anyone who might be sick.  Nobody wants to have a loved one taken away from them.  Now, just because you are understanding does not mean you have to agree.  Demand the best from others and yourself.
·         Be Transparent.  Telling the public what you think is not bad.  Let them know where you stand and why you feel that way.  If you are provided with valid points, listen and change your message accordingly, but let the public know why.  Let your employees know what is going on.  Americans love success stories and they want you to succeed.  By being honest with them, they will identify with you and be more likely to become a customer for life.

Small Businesses cannot rely on help but they can make a difference for others

When someone talks about a small business they usually think of the local shop that has the whole family working to put food on the table.  However, a small business depending on the industry can be defined as a business with a maximum of 500 employees.  They are privately owned corporations, partnerships or sole proprietorships that have less revenue than larger businesses.  Small businesses account for more than half of the private GDP and the private sector employment.  The top job provider in the United States is those companies with fewer than ten employees and those with ten or more but fewer than 20 employees comes in second when it comes to the labor force of the United States.

During the overhyped Coronavirus that has scared millions of Americans by our politicians and mainstream media a 2.2 TRILLION PORK FILLED STIMULUS PACKAGE was passed to ease people’s fear and not question the asinine decisions that continue to be made.  Throughout this package, schools with billion dollar endowments, our congress, Indian reservations, community art centers, refuges from other countries have all received billions of tax payer dollars that was intended for small businesses to keep their doors open and their employees on staff until we could return back to some normalcy.

Many small businesses did not get funding before the Payroll Protection Program hit its $349b limit last week. It capped out because of large public companies taking large chunks of money out of a program that was not intended for them. The program was not intended for them because public companies have better staying power and alternative means of funding that small businesses do not. Meanwhile the small businesses continue to suffer.  Click on this link to see the largest public companies taking payroll loans meant for small businesses.  Several of the companies have market values well in excess of $100 million, including DMC Global, Wave Life Sciences and Fiesta Restaurant Group.  In full disclosure, DeliveryMaxx has been a client of Wells Fargo, and was one of the small companies that they squeezed out from getting any of the funding to help keep their doors open.

However, don’t let your local politicians off the hook.  President Trump passed the buck to the Governors.  The Governors past the buck to the County Judges and the County Judges who don’t even have to have a formal education to rule have made decisions based on an Epidemiologist Neil Ferguson’s Graph that said 2.2 million Americans would die by April 15th.  Of course he based that on 100% of the world would get the virus and it was very deadly.  Facts have not ever and still do not support these claims as he has now revised his predictions to a lower 60,000 Americans.  Even the weatherman have not been this wrong in the past.

DeliveryMaxx understands this all too well.  Founder James Schaefer, developed the Patent-Pending program just over 10 years ago creating an innovative way for companies to easily spread their message to the masses utilizing a mobile app.  He created this company without government loans or private investments.  Utilizing his personal savings, he has poured in millions over the last decade to create a program that will help anyone needing exposure on the web.  In every sense of the word, DeliveryMaxx is a small business with clients in multiple industries and across the country such as Automotive Dealerships, Real-Estate Brokers & Agents, Churches, Service Industry, Sports Teams, Non-Profit Organizations and more; utilizing the Patent-Pending customized social media marketing program to implement a digital strategy that will meet the needs of sales, service and messaging to the masses.

For businesses that are in the same boat as DeliveryMaxx (companies that are trying to survive), you must be willing to see and adapt to today’s environment.  That means with more eyes than ever before looking at the internet for information, your business must have a complete digital strategy that includes positive Online Reputation, stronger SEO, concise Content Management, increase in Social Media Engagement and Advertisement and higher Customer Retention.  To meet these strategies businesses must use Blogs, Reviews, Daily Post, Video Messaging, Automated Follow-Up, Email Blast and Website Development & Optimization.

Make no mistake, the government and mainstream media is not going to worry about you, so you will have to build up your brand and create a loyal customer following.  It will be important for you to stay consistent and vigilant during these tough times.  A couple of things you can do that will help you weather the storm as the local Mayors and County Judges continue to move the goal post:
·         Network.  The more people you meet and learn what they do the more opportunities you might find that your business can perform.

·         Help Others.  There is nothing better when a small business identifies an opportunity to help another small business.  Look for passing on referrals, using that business for a need you might have, consider partnering or trading services with the business.  Talk with your clients as they might be able to help you or vice versa.  Look to your competition.  Together, you might become stronger or have ways to help each other during this time.

·         Be willing to Adapt.  Even when the government runs out of excuses to keep the economy closed, we will never be able to go back to the way things were.  Be sure your business is adapting to the new ways consumers will be shopping or interacting with your business.  You will want to make sure you can operate in a digital world.

·         Show Empathy.  Many people believe everything they have heard on TV.  They are scared of the unknown and instantly feel this virus will kill everyone.  Obviously, this isn’t true, but don’t blame them for being so naïve.  Realize that they really think one might die just by walking outside if that is all they have heard the past 3 to 4 months.  As frustrating as it might be, don’t yell at them because they will argue with emotions and not facts.  Screaming and yelling will not make them understand logic any better and only scare them more.  Understand that others might have something that you take for granted, but to them it is a necessity of life.

·         Continue to Fight.  DeliveryMaxx has taken the position to expose the misinformation our government and mainstream media continues to feed America.  However, we are also providing real solutions and tools to help businesses to not fall into what is looking like being The 2nd Great Depression.  We know how hard you have worked to build a company that provides not only for your family, but also 10 or more other families.  Your voice must be heard, so don’t be afraid to let others know what these decisions are doing to your company.

DeliveryMaxx has been the leader in the digital media arena over the last decade and continues to help businesses in all sectors reach their potential customers through the most innovative digital strategy utilizing common sense and today’s technology.  We are able to customize and create a strategy for any entity that is trying to gain more exposure on the web.

DeliveryMaxx is one of the only digital media company that provides a simple to use app which will allow our clients immediately collect online reviews, post engaging videos and online content with branding and advertising.  The program is embedded with digital code helping increase SEO which provides first page results on the Search Engines.  It is a tool that is implanted with a complete digital strategy giving our clients a competitive advantage over the competition.  For more information about DeliveryMaxx contact (888) 938-6299 or watch the DeliveryMaxx Introduction Video!

Strategic Planning now will allow your Business to Thrive Later

With over 50% of the United States labor force directly affected by the success of small businesses financial stability it is imperative that businesses continue to evaluate every program and streamline processes to assure their viability for when the Coronavirus Chaos stabilizes.  There is good news that is finally being reported showing that the scare tactics of our media and many of our politicians at the National, State and Local level were wrong from the beginning shutting down the economy.  Unfortunately, because the politicians at each of these levels gravely overacted it will take many years for businesses to recoup the losses they have encountered over the Media Induced Political Hysteria Economic Shutdown.  We still have a minimum of 3 weeks before more people will demand that businesses are allowed to reopen.  For many, this will be too late.  However, for those that have strategically planned will have a chance to serve their customers once again.

After cutting cost, minimizing expenses and streamlining operations, businesses must make sure their message is heard.  Obviously, utilizing today’s technology and a little common sense businesses can continue to provide goods and services to consumers.  Having a digital strategy can be of great benefit to acquire new clients or increase sales.  Digital Advertising is less expensive than traditional advertisement, but it has to be done right.  Every site has to be optimized and a complete understanding of each platform’s audience must be known.  There has to be a balance of daily post with branding and testimonies from clients.  There also has to be informational blogs and educational videos that show you are an expert in your field.  DeliveryMaxx makes this happen on a consistent basis meeting all of your needs in the digital world giving you a stronger reach on the internet allowing you to focus on what you do the best which is provide a great service or product and outstanding customer service!

A perfect example of utilizing social media is how businesses have united together to expose Wells Fargo’s fraudulent lending practices.  After securing the most small business accounts last year, they turned their back on these customers squeezing them out of securing the needed funds to stay alive through the Payroll Protection Plan that was part of the 2.2 trillion pork filled stimulus package our politicians on both sides of the aisle passed.  (We don’t even need to mention how the politicians lined their pockets by throwing in special funding for those who contribute to their campaign, but all of that information is on another blog.)  Not only was Wells Fargo found fraudulent by various regulatory bodies including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) by the creation of millions of fake savings and checking accounts on behalf of Wells Fargo clients without their consent and fined $185 million as a result of the illegal activity, but now they have been exposed for squeezing out the small business owner while providing valuable information to achieve additional funding to their much larger clients.  Small businesses like DeliveryMaxx have utilize Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media accounts to call out the injustice that continues throughout this crisis.

Another narrative that continues to be exposed is the actual severity of the Coronavirus itself.  Just before the insane government ordered house arrest imposed on innocent businesses and consumers alike, our officials utilized the famous Epidemiologist, Neil Ferguson who boldly predicted that the United States would achieve 2.2 million deaths in a very short amount of time only later changing the claims as drastically lower because over 85% who get the virus show no or very mild symptoms?  This was the same chart that everyone said we must balance the curve.  Of course the premise of the whole scare was that 100% of the world’s population would become infected with the virus and with a little research one would find that this has never happened in the history of the world.

The new narrative that these corrupt politicians and news media is starting to state that our “Stay at Home” policies are actually working on flattening the curve.  This would be great news except places like Home Depot, Walmart, big box grocery stores, Lowes, Academy, McDonalds and other fast-food restaurants all were allowed to remain open serving hundreds of customers at a time.  Therefore, if their employees and customers were not spreading the virus as everyone said, a question should be asked, “Was the virus as deadly or even as contagious as all of the politicians and media kept saying?”  How is it that several hundreds of people can fight over toilet paper and not spread a virus, but the local 100 seat capacity Mexican restaurant had to close their doors?

If and hopefully when our elected officials start making better decisions ending the economic shutdown, that if prolonged will lead us into the 2nd Great Depression, they will have to defend their short sided decision making of hurting tens of millions of American workers, why For-Profit-Hospitals did not adequately prepare for a potential epidemic that has been talked about for decades while making millions off the backs of the average American through insurance claims a pharmaceutical sales and a gross abuse of power during the chaos (especially many local mayors and county judges) as well as defending the World Health Organization’s (WHO) role in helping Communist China cover up information regarding the threat of the Coronavirus.  The only way they will be able to do this is through a digital media campaign because the mainstream media will still be in business to sensationalize stories to increase their advertising revenue based on viewers just like the fake stories they promoted when CBS News admitted airing footage of an overwhelmed Italian hospital while reporting on the coronavirus outbreak in New York City (included a short clip from the Sky News video in a segment about the outbreak of COVID-19 in New York City, which the outlet calls "America's Epicenter")  in order to continue to promote fear and uncertainty.  The CDC, WHO and United States Medical Examiners are counting any death such as heart disease, suicide or other causes of death of a person who has symptoms of the Coronavirus as COVID-19 Related Deaths.  Although very misleading, ultimately this will continue to add to mistrust of the media.

Unfortunately, unemployment filings have increased to almost 17 million.  Currently, restaurants and travel-related fields have made up the majority of these claims, but now we are seeing hundreds of thousands of retail workers lining up.  Economists say there could be more long-term and permanent layoffs included in more recent claims, as companies look to trim costs according to a new CNBC report.  Business Insider provided that nearly 60% of people who have lost their jobs due to the overhyped coronavirus pandemic are women.  If these trends continue we will easily surpass The Great Depression of 1929 which lasted for 4 years had a peak global unemployment at 24.9%.  Using the same numbers that would be the equivalent of 64 million of working adults in the United States would be out of a job today.  Economic forecasts are becoming routine that predict unemployment will exceed its historic 25 percent peak during the Great Depression, and the number of jobs lost in a mere three weeks now exceeds the 15 million that it took 18 months for the Great Recession to bulldoze from 2007 to 2009.  Of course with a great depression we will see a rapid rise in crime rate, suicide, cases of malnutrition, prostitution, alcoholism and drug abuse, out of reach higher education, increased divorce rates and child abuse and overall decline in health.  There will be many more deaths associated with The 2nd Great Depression than the current 90,011 worldwide deaths from the Coronavirus.  By the way, this number still lags behind the total number of deaths from suicides (291,990), alcohol (681,025), smoking (1,361,193), malaria (267,086), cancer (2,236,314), HIV/AIDS (457,741), abortions (11,574,400), seasonal flu (132,417) and communicable disease (3,534,857).

Because small businesses cannot rely on our government, news media and others; we must stay vigilant in promoting great goods and services that have helped the United States become a world economic power.  With all the obstacles that have been mentioned above, there is nothing more powerful than to be able to reach thousands to even millions of potential customers.

DeliveryMaxx makes this happen on a consistent basis meeting all of your needs in the digital world giving you a stronger reach on the internet allowing you to focus on what you do the best.  Having a digital strategy that includes social media engagement, online reputation, digital advertising, content management, website development and site optimization allows small businesses to remain viable in this time of uncertainty.

DeliveryMaxx has been the leader in this arena over the last decade and continues to help businesses in all sectors reach their potential customers through the most innovative digital strategy utilizing common sense and today’s technology.  Our clients experience positive Online Reputation, stronger SEO, concise content management, increase in social media engagement and advertisement and higher customer retention.  We are able to customize and create a strategy for any entity that is trying to gain more exposure on the web.  With clients in multiple industries and across the country such as Automotive Dealerships, Real-Estate Brokers & Agents, Churches, Service Industry, Sports Teams, Non-Profit Organizations and more; we utilize our Patent-Pending Program to develop a digital strategy that will meet the needs of sales, service and messaging to the masses.

Video Marketing is the Next Biggest Thing!!!

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what is a video worth?  According to my 7th grade honors student a video is worth 1.8 million words!  My daughter is not too far off when we investigate how the mind works.

According to research people will retain almost 20% of what they hear.  They generally retain 30% of what they see.  However, when they combine seeing and listening; the retention of the message increases to 70%.

Every blog, article and digital expert expresses that businesses must utilize video to share their message.  There is good reasoning behind these statements.

·         Online Video Marketing is far more cost effective than TV, Radio, and Print advertising.
·         Once your online video is complete you can reuse the video in multiple marketing settings. Facebook, You Tube etc. can all be used multiple times for absolutely no cost.

·         Online Video Marketing will improve your Google ranking. Videos are 53% more likely than text pages to show up on the first page of search results.

·         It’s all about Brand Awareness. Viewers retain 95% more of the message when they watch it in a video compared to 10% when reading it in text.

·         According to Cisco, The future is here now. Internet video traffic will be 69% of all global consumer Internet traffic in 2017.

So what is your plan?

DeliveryMaxx has a Patent-Pending Digital Marketing Program that allows you to produce and publish videos instantly populating all of your digital channels.  These videos can be shared to individual consumers within seconds, provide video testimonies and show off your great products and services.

For decades real estate professionals have been pounding home the phrase that opening a new business is all about… Location Location Location.  This phrase or concept dates back to as early as 1926 or even earlier.  The internet has made it commonplace for businesses to reach customers from around the world and with the advent of social media digital marketing is all the rage.  When designing a digital marketing plan or simply starting a new business, yes it’s that fundamental, every business owner or manager should consider several factors when deciding what and when to launch a campaign.  There are several types of marketing campaigns to consider, but here we are talking about digital marketing and more specifically content marketing.

Every post every picture for that matter every word that is said about a business or product is now an opportunity to introduce oneself or said product to the marketplace.  Customers are not only right around the corner, but now sit just a click away.  I’m not going to bore with details and statistics of why ecommerce is so important and explain the complexities of what makes for a good website, if you’ve made it this far you already understand these things.  What we are going to discuss is that in the digital age location matters, just not that much.  Online marketing programs are all about CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT, and did I mention CONTENT.

So where are you getting your digital content from?

Blogs are and excellent source to increase the number of mentions and backlinks to your respective address and in many cases this is the primary driver for original content most businesses use.  Blogs must be original and always include a message that speaks directly to the audience you wish to show up in your show room.  Blogs are also a great opportunity to share accomplishments as well as community spirit/service activities.  This is the best place to show case your business to the ever so discriminating public.  In short Blogs are your way of describing you.

Press Releases are much like blogs in that they provide the reader or prospective customer with a summary about you and/or your business.  The biggest difference here is that you don’t have control over the message.

Reviews/Online Reputation is all about what others are saying about you.  It’s pretty simple to maintain a positive online reputation, simply treat customers correctly and deliver on promises as stated when stated.  There are countless numbers of online reputation companies promising to “fix” businesses reputation.  Be wary of anyone that says they can get you reviews or have negative words that are being said about you removed from one site or another.  Simple fact is you are who your customers say you are and in most cases perhaps even better.  In general 95% plus of the people businesses serve would return to that business or even refer a friend, but statistics show that less than 3% share that information in a public forum.  What about the other 5% that for one reason or another were not satisfied??  You guessed and overwhelming number of those tell everyone.  You need to find a program that will capture more of the 95%ers.

Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) could take up an entire article, and there are plenty already out there, on how to utilize it for ecommerce but here it’s all about content.  Every post is an opportunity to add content about your business.  Unfortunately businesses fall into the trap of posting useless information just to fill a page every day.  Posting services sell or shall I say prey on managers and owners selling them on their “need” to have daily posts.  Here’s the secret… If it doesn’t point directly back to your businesses internet space then it is just filler.  There is content everywhere within the everyday activities of each organization that utilize third parties to create their social footprint.  What if each employee had the ability to create effective content that was a direct reflection of that organization and could show honest and current interactions with customers.  That company would now have an edge that no third party provider could provide.

Five Steps to Controlling your Online Reputation

When I was a kid, my southern Baptist Preacher father used to tell me I could never outrun my reputation.  I wasn’t the fastest kid around, but Jesse Owen, Carl Lewis, and Usain Bolt can’t outrun their reputation either.  Now with Social Media and hundreds of Online Review Sites- this fact is more real than ever; especially for businesses.
Today, ninety percent (90%) of all buying decisions are made before customers ever contact the business or organization they are interested in.  That means Automotive Dealerships, Churches, Attorneys, Real Estate Agents and any other business you can think of is not immune from anyone with a PC, tablet, or smartphone from sharing their experience perceived or otherwise about your organization.

So how do you make sure your Online Reputation reflects the real story that you want your potential customers to see?  The following steps to having a great Online Reputation is easier than you might think.

  1. Provide a great product or service.  Yes, we all know that sometimes you will not be able to satisfy the most arduous consumer.  Later in this article we will discuss this point.  However, most consumers when making a purchase expect their product or service to perform as advertised.  If this happens 100% of the time then usually your reputation will be strong.
  2. Thank your customer.  By letting your customer know that you know they have choices and you appreciate their business you have taken one of the easiest steps available.  It is a fact.  You are not the only game in town.  Consumers have more choices than ever, and they know this.  Let your customer know that you are happy to have earned their business every chance you get.
  3. Give your Customers a Chance to Talk.  Now, most people do not go home and take the time to write a great review.  (Some customers do, but most don’t).  Most Online Reviews are written by individuals who feel they did not get the treatment or value from the business they patronized.  Usually businesses never know that this customer was unhappy until the review has been posted for the world to see.  This will happen to the best of companies or organizations.  So, if you have taken care of Point Number 1 and Point Number 2 then you will not have to worry about many negative reviews posting on your personal review sites.  However, you must ask your happy customers to share their wonderful experience online.  In general, customers would love to share their great experience if it is easy and convenient as long as the first two points happen.  If you are receiving ten positive reviews for every one negative post then your Online Reputation will be solid.
  4. Respond to all.  Businesses and organizations should respond to every review.  All too often, most reviews are never acknowledge online in a public forum.  Take the time to thank the customer for taking the time to write the review.  Second, address the information (both positive and negative) in each review.  That means you must read the review.  It shows you care.  Do NOT post a generic response because you are telling the world that you really do not care about the time your customer took to share their experience.  Do not just respond to negative reviews or to only the positive reviews.  This also sends a poor message to the group of consumers you are not responding to.
  5. Social Media is also Online Reputation.  Understand that your Online Reputation is not only expressed on review sites such as Google, Yelp, CitySearch and others.  Your reputation is anything and everything that is posted online.  That means Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, WordPress and other Social Media Sites also hold the keys to your Online Reputation.  Businesses must have a plan to understand and work their social media network.  A recent blog; ‘Is your business Social’ shares the importance of understanding how to allow use Social Media to improve your business.  It is very important to blend both Social Media Marketing and Online Reputation together to help share your story with the world.

Now unless your digital legs are stronger than the most tested athletes of all-time than you will need to place your efforts into Online Reputation because you cannot run from it.  Since the beginning of time, reputation is everything and your business has to have a plan.  As you have just read, it isn’t hard to understand what to do about managing your Online Reputation.  You just have to do it, and have the right plan of action.
